Blue Education and Coastal Care Project

Wakatobi is known as a marine paradise with its clear blue sea, beautiful coral reefs, and amazing marine life. However, behind this beauty lies a major challenge — increasing marine pollution, declining coastal quality, and low awareness among the younger generation of the importance of protecting the marine environment. It is from this concern that the Blue Education and Coastal Care movement was born as a tangible expression of the Scouts' concern for the future of the Wakatobi seas.

We initially sought out issues and speakers related to this activity. There were many challenges, including persuading the scouts to better protect the environment. With a good approach and communication, we were able to open a forum and conduct social service activities on Hundue Beach.

Through this activity, Wakatobi Scouts can raise awareness that the sea is not just a place to play and travel, but also a trust that must be protected. Every plastic bottle we throw away carelessly, every piece of trash that drifts into the sea, is a threat to fish, coral, and the livelihoods of coastal communities. Therefore, change must begin with ourselves, with small things, and with our immediate environment.
