Awareness raising on Dengue prevention
Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, continues to pose a significant threat to public health in West Bengal. To address this alarming issue and to stop the continuation of this type of mosquitos, we took up this project. The local people have experienced several outbreaks of the disease in recent years, with the most severe outbreak occurring in 2023.
A team of Howrah Vivekananda Institution Scout Group and Swamiji Rover Crew organized a Dengue dieses awareness program at the call of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Howrah District Association . We distributed leaflets, and sprayed Mosquito repellent oil in the Howrah Vivekananda Institution premises, Ramakrishna Mission , Kasundia, Howrah and Kasundia Shibtola, Akshay Chakraborty Lane etc. Leaflets and repellent oil were supplied by the Howrah Municipal Corporation.
The main reason for undertaking the project is to protect people from mosquitoes and prevent dengue fever. And I think we ask for guidance from people so that they can take more initiative in this work and they will all benefit. 1000 people benefited from this project. Everyone was very appreciative and they participant with us and they promised to follow the rules.
Dengue awareness programs serve as essential tools in the fight against this infectious disease. By educating individuals about the signs, symptoms, transmission, and prevention of dengue fever, these initiatives empower communities to take proactive measures. We all should take the necessary steps to prevent dengue by stopping the breeding of aedes mosquitos.
