Amazing Team Distributes Clothing To The Homeless.
Poverty is a problem not only here in Malaysia, but everywhere around the world. Based on a study conducted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the most recent figure of homelessness in Kuala Lumpur stood at around 1,500-2,000 as of February 2016, a substantial increase from 600 in 2014. Those homeless people have only a few pairs of clothes and most of them don’t even have a mattress or even a blanket.
On 19th April 2022, my family and I volunteered with What A Waste to donate clothes and blankets and even cardboard boxes and recyclable bags to the homeless on KL street.
What A Waste is a non-profit organization which salvages excess food and repurposes them to the homeless and B40 community. They also provide clothes, blankets and other necessities.
We were able to provide clothes, blankets and toiletries for about 40 people on that day. From now on, I hope that the homeless will have a warm night's rest with their new clothes and blanket.
