What do you think it would it be like travelling through 6 different Realms exploring Fields of Possibilities imaging what you might encounter and challenges you needed to accept before moving forward! This is what engaged nearly 1000 youth and adult members of Scouts Australia and Guides NSW/ACT Region in January 2017. Participants were challenged to have fun, work as a team and solve puzzling mysteries. This was the central theme for our 2017 ACT Branch Cuboree. We found that having such an immersive theme has focused energy, excitement, e and learning for all participants, both youth and adults. The Activity and Ceremonies teams had the task of delivering the magic. As in previous Cuborees, the 2017 Activity Teams gave 6 discreet experiences around the central theme and the Ceremonies Team with morning and evening events drew together the threads to make the overall experience meaningful. A large contingent of older youth members and adults was required to ensure that the event was a success, with over 22213 hours put in across 18 months. As part of a considered move to involve more youth members in the planning and preparation of Cuboree, an invitation was sent to prospective youth members inviting them to participate as “Imagineers”. Their role was to work and perform with the Ceremonies Team during the Cuboree ceremonies. The Cuboree was a success with each youth member coming away with a new perspective and ready to face new challenges!
