
Rwanda Scouts Champions for Smart Agriculture
Did you know Scouts in Rwanda are taking bold action to fight food insecurity and malnutrition?.
Through the Food for Life (FFL) program, an initiative by World Scouting Africa the Rwanda Scouts Association is training young leaders in sustainable agriculture and nutrition. The goal isto empower them to lead change in their communities.
🌾 Practical Skills for Real Impact:
From May 22–25, 2025, 34 Scout Unit Leaders gathered at CFS Huye for hands-on training in:
Soil types and fertilization,
Climate-smart agriculture,
Organic liquid fertilizers & fertigation,
Nutrition and healthy meal preparation,
Agribusiness and entrepreneurship,
They also visited a model community garden to see sustainable practices in action.
🍲 Growing Knowledge, Sharing Change
Each trained leader will pass their skills to fellow Scouts—creating a ripple effect that promotes:
Local food production,
Better nutrition,
Youth-led innovation in agriculture.
National Commitment,
The Rwanda Scouts Association is integrating these themes into the National Scout Youth Programme ensuring a healthier, hunger-free Rwanda through Scouting.
