Project Green Skill – India
The Green Skill - India - project is implemented in Bihar, Delhi, Eastern Railway, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, N.F. Railway, N. E. Railway, Northern Railway, Nagaland, NHQ, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Western Railway have actively and effectively implemented Project Green Skill – India in their respective local areas. We widely shared the activities through social media platforms and systematically uploaded them to the SDG Hub for documentation, monitoring, and visibility. The youth-led sustainability initiative has generated measurable impact across communities:
Environmental Action & Clean-Up Drives: A total of 3,720 participants engaged in environmental action activities under the project. Clean-up drives conducted at beaches, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies resulted in the removal of 900 kg of marine/water debris and 1,785 kg of solid waste. All activities were carefully documented with geo-tagged photographs and verified reports uploaded to the SDG Hub.
Responsible Consumption & Community Outreach (SDG 12): The project reached 18,600 community members through structured awareness sessions conducted both offline and online. Through workshops, digital campaigns, surveys, and feedback sessions, participants were sensitized to sustainable lifestyles and responsible consumption practices aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 12.
Plantation & Green Space Development (SDG 13 & 15): A total of 1,000 saplings were planted, and 28 Green Spaces were created and maintained across communities. Plantation activities were supported by geo-tagging, site maps, monitoring reports, and impact stories, contributing to reforestation, biodiversity enhancement, and ecosystem restoration.
Youth Engagement – Green Cities Challenge: A total of 2,850 Scouts earned the Green Cities Challenge Badge. Young leaders documented their sustainability initiatives and uploaded verified reports to the SDG Hub, demonstrating strong youth ownership and climate leadership.
Sustainable Harvesting Initiatives (SDG 2 & 12): Community-led initiatives resulted in the harvesting of 730 kg of sustainably farmed produce, strengthening local food systems and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Overall, Project Green Skill – India has significantly advanced environmental responsibility, youth leadership, and community engagement, contributing meaningfully toward the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
