Planting Plants for a Healthy Earth
In biology, plants are multicellular eukaryotic organisms belonging to the kingdom Plantae. Plants are needed by all humans because of the various functions of plants. Other types of plants include:
1. Hydrophyte Plants
It is a plant that lives in aquatic areas. The characteristics of hydrophyte plants are that they have wide and thin leaves, hollow stems, and have fibrous roots and stomata. For example, mangrove plants, water hyacinth, lotus and water spinach.
2. Hydrophyte Plants
This type of plant likes a humid environment. Its characteristics include wide and thin leaves, having many stomata to speed up evaporation (transpiration), and having a thin cuticle (wax) layer. for example moss and ferns
3. xerophytic plants
This is a type of plant that can live in dry areas, such as deserts. Examples of plants are aloe vera, cactus, and mother-in-law's tongue. The characteristics of xerophytic plants are thick leaves, some species do not have leaves but thorns, the root structure is long, and they have a layer of cuticle on the surface of the leaves.
4. saprophyte plants
These are plants that live by utilizing the results of the breakdown or decay of other bodies because they do not have chlorophyll. For example mushrooms.
5. halophyte plants
It is a type of plant that lives in areas with high salt levels. For example mangroves.
