Minister Turning the Plastic Tide at City Park

Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution was the theme if the just concluded UNEA-6 convention held in Nairobi, City in the sun. The highlight of this global event was walking the talk to tackle pollution in one of the communities in the City that has a park by the same name, City Park. It is here that different groups joined forces to discuss forward-looking sustainable initiatives over what wasn't a cup of tea but a "good turn" as humility would have a scout call it. Here Plastic Tide Turner Ambassadors led by the National Executive Commissioner from the Kenya Scouts Association, representatives from the UNEP, Nairobi City County, British High Commission among others hosted Rt. Hon. Rebecca Pow, UK Minister of Nature to a clean up exercise that would safeguard against plastic and other pollution in the Nairobi River. The intragenerational message take-home was that partnerships that promote sustainable actions are key to safeguarding and restoring our natural water and land ecosystems which going by the happy crowds at the park are key to a good quality of life for us all now and for posterity.
