Building Skills Through Trestle Training

The Rover Section of Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts and Guides, Asansol District, Traffic Group Asansol conducted a practical Class on Trestle to strengthen pioneering skills. The session focused on the construction of an H-frame trestle, one of the fundamental structures used in Scout pioneering projects such as bridges and camp gadgets. During the class, participants learned how to select suitable spars, prepare the framework, and apply square lashings and diagonal lashings correctly. They also understood the importance of cross braces, ledgers, and triangular bracing in providing strength, stability, and load-bearing capacity to the structure. The training was conducted through hands-on practice, allowing every Rover to actively participate in building and inspecting the trestle. The activity improved teamwork, leadership, communication, ropework skills, and practical problem-solving while reinforcing the principles of safe and effective pioneering. This session enhanced the confidence and technical knowledge of the Rovers and prepared them for future pioneering projects, camps, and adventure activities in Scouting.
