The Liberia Scout Association recently hosted a landmark Messenger of Peace training at Lott Carey Baptist Mission, bringing together 84 Scouts and Scout leaders for five days of intensive learning and capacity building. Held under the theme “Building Safe and Resilient Scouting in Liberia,” the training was designed to strengthen the governance structures of Scouting while equipping participants with vital skills in child protection and safety. This initiative combined policy education with Safe from Harm training, ensuring that both youth and adult volunteers understand, internalize, and apply the rules and safeguarding practices that guide Scouting in Liberia. By placing young Scouts alongside adult leaders in the same sessions, the program emphasized that building a safe and resilient movement is a shared responsibility empowering youth to become active stakeholders in shaping the future of Scouting.
