CLEANING SERVICE AT JAMTSHOLING,GYALSUNG.(3rd POP)

As Scouts, we were inspired to honour the spirit of national service by taking meaningful action in our local community. We initiated a cleaning campaign to remove waste from event areas and roadsides, ensuring that public spaces remained clean, safe, and beautiful after the crowds had departed. This initiative reflects the Scout values of community service and caring for nature while contributing to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Through our efforts, we aimed to promote environmental responsibility and encourage everyone to help maintain a clean, healthy, and sustainable living environment.

After the programme ended, it began to rain. The Nazhoen and Nachung Scouts gathered for a brief discussion before starting the cleaning activity. Despite the rainy weather, they worked together to collect waste from all around the stadium. As the stadium covered a large area, it took approximately five hours to complete the cleaning. This time, there was less waste compared to the 2nd Cohort Passing Out Parade, as fewer people had attended the programme. Finally, the Scouts gathered all the collected waste and disposed of it at the designated dumping site, demonstrating their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to keeping the environment clean.

hrough this community service, I learned the importance of leadership, teamwork, and effective coordination in achieving a common goal. I also realised that even small acts of service can make a meaningful difference in our community. Most importantly, this experience taught me that community service is a way of demonstrating our sincerity, loyalty, and dedication towards the Tsa-Wa-Sum (King, Country, and People) while upholding the true values of Scouting.
