Building SAFE Spaces

SAFE is an animal rescue organisation that specialise in not only rescuing animals but teaching others that animals are living beings, not just property. SAFE use local kennels to house rescued animals until they can be adopted or fostered. The kennels are low on space, so we have come in to build larger, open kennels that can house up to 3 dogs each. I chose this project as I am deeply affectionate towards animals, and seeing animals in need of homes, I couldn't help but take on this project.
We began by clearing the overgrown vegetation from the sites where these kennels would be placed. We then began by digging holes to sink timber poles that will form the base of the fences around these kennels. The project is still ongoing, so we have yet to do the following: Sink the poles, install the wire fencing, and install the gates.
We learnt about the necessity of these kennels. They keep many dogs safe off the streets and out of abusive homes where they will ultimately end up losing their life.
