Scouting moving forward in Montenegro

The National Board of the Scout and Guide Association of Montenegro, after the results from GSAT, recognized development of the Strategy, as well as Leadership training as some of the top priorities for the Association in the following months. Thanks to the support of World Scout Foundation and Messengers of Peace, we got the support for two big events: Training for new Scout Unit leaders and Creation of Strategy for Scout and Guide Association of Montenegro. Even though in last few years we had some projects related to Growth and many new Scout Units were formed, there was still a clear space for progress and interest of young people who would start with the Scouting story, and who generally either have no previous experience in leading a youth organization or have no experience in working with Scouts. Therefore, the education of Young leaders was needed, as well as additional support when they start the work with new and excising Scout Unit. In the Training framework of our Association, we created program for Training for new Scout Unit Leaders. That training is organized as a kind of induction to new Scout Unit leaders and young leaders from those Units. 35 members from different Scout Units, different municipalities and social backgrounds made a successful and quality training. After the training, we stayed in contact with new leaders, whom we're helping with the process of creating new Scout Units and first steps in the work of already created Scout Units. The creation of new Strategy of SGAM was done with help from WOSM consultants - Andrea Demarmels and Urban Lečnik Spaić. After few surveys that were created so we could have appropriate inputs, 40 members of National Board, Commissioners team and young leaders created a draft of Strategy of SGAM 2024-2032. That draft was presented to local Scout Units during field visits and it was adopted on the General Assembly on 31st of March 2024. The implementation has already started and we hope that we'll see results in the following years.
