Scout Mobile Boot Camp
What inspired you to take up the project?
I was inspired by the wish to help young students grow in discipline, teamwork, and confidence, while honoring Her Royal Highness Gyalsem Sonam Yangden Wangchuck on her birthday. Just as a jewel (Norbu) becomes beautiful when it is shaped and polished, children grow through good training, outdoor practice, and working together.
What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?
Small groups and good planning make learning safer and more effective, and when students work together as a team, they build discipline, confidence, and leadership.
Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?
JMSS students arrived at Lhayul Primary School on Friday evening for registration, a welcome, and ice-breakers. On Saturday, after aerobics, the flag ceremony, and an overview, they were split into four patrols (Norbu, Khorlo, Tachok, and Langchen) that rotated through four activity stations run by 12 facilitators. The day ended with a campfire and patrol performances. Sunday featured a recap, patrol competitions, certificate awards, and a closing ceremony before dispersal after lunch.
