World Water Day - Plantation
The increasing challenges of water scarcity and environmental degradation inspired us to take action. Observing the direct connection between deforestation and declining water resources motivated us to contribute towards a sustainable solution. The idea of “Water for Peace” encouraged us to focus on tree plantation as a simple yet powerful step to restore ecological balance and ensure water security for future generations.
The project was executed through careful planning and collaboration with Vidhaigal NGO and other stakeholders. We identified suitable locations in Vallakotti for plantation and organized volunteers for the activity. Training and awareness sessions were conducted to educate participants about the importance of tree care and water conservation. On the day of the event, saplings were planted systematically, ensuring proper spacing and sustainability measures.
The project provided valuable insights into the strong connection between tree plantation and water conservation, highlighting how increasing green cover supports groundwater recharge and environmental balance. It helped us understand the importance of teamwork, coordination, and leadership while working with different groups and organizations. We gained practical knowledge about planting techniques, site selection, and the long-term maintenance required for saplings to thrive.
