World Environment Day – Plastic-Free Campus

The inspiration behind this project stemmed from our collective responsibility to protect the environment and align with the global call to "Beat Plastic Pollution." Observing the harmful impact of single-use plastics, we were motivated to transform Sri Sairam Engineering College into a model plastic-free campus, guided by the principles of sustainability, youth action, and the values of Bharat Scouts and Guides.

We executed the project through a campus-wide awareness campaign, engaging students and staff via rallies, posters, and seminars on plastic pollution. Collaboration with UNEP, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and Bharat Scouts and Guides – Sairam District Association empowered our efforts. We implemented strict plastic bans, installed alternatives, and declared the campus plastic-free on World Environment Day with collective student participation.

We learned that collective action and awareness can drive real change. Engaging students and staff showed us the power of community in promoting sustainability. The project strengthened our leadership, planning, and collaboration skills while reinforcing the importance of adopting eco-friendly habits for a greener future. It proved that small steps, when united, lead to big environmental impacts.
