Woodbadge Course S3-576-14-3 (SHAC 14-3)
SHAC 14-3, one of the last events to be held at Camp Strake in the Sam Houston Area Council collected over $800 for the World Friendship Fund.
Our contribution to building links between divided communities was to collect Christmas gifts for special education students attending the Klein Therapeutic Education Center. Many of these students live in Child Protective Services Residential Treatment Centers where they have little or no contact with their parents and families. Christmas can be a very lonely time for these students. It is very important to these kids to have name brand athletic shoes. Through the generosity of participants and staff, we were able to donate twenty-nine pairs of athletic shoes and $505 in gift cards to the children. We hope that this will help them to have a happy holiday!
Thank you to the course participants and staff and the Course Director Janet Kelly.
In the attached photos you can see the shoes being put to good use! The kids love their shoes and were very happy to receive them. In one photo the shoes had been taken off so that the kids could enjoy the bouncy house that had been brought in for their holiday party.
Also, attached are the thank you notes that we received from the school.
