Urban Roots: Scouts for a Greener Tagum

The project aims to equip Scouts and Adult Leaders with practical skills to create impactful, community-based solutions to urban environmental issues. By promoting vegetable gardening as a response to food insecurity and climate challenges, the initiative aimed to inspire leadership, civic engagement, and environmental responsibility. This effort reflects our commitment to empowering youth as catalysts for sustainable change in their communities.

Through a two-days public workshop in Brgy. Mankilam, Tagum City, Scouts were guided by Adult Leaders from Arriesgado College Foundation, Inc. The session included structured learning, hands-on proposal writing, and mentorship focused on developing sustainable urban gardening projects. This interactive approach empowered participants with practical skills while promoting youth leadership and environmental responsibility.

The project empowered the youth through guided, hands-on proposal-making builds their confidence and capability to address real environmental issues. The Scouts not only learned how to create practical, community-focused solutions but also deepened their understanding of sustainability and food security. This experience highlighted the power of youth engagement in driving local environmental action.
