Uitsig Animal Rescue Centre

We working at Uitsig from the 17 -22 Oct every Saturday. Potholes on the main road- We will clean out the hole of loose dirt, lay fill material, compact the material and make sure it will not come out. The road is 1,15km long and is 6m wide The holes don’t take very long to fix so each person will fix at least 10 holes. Driveway leading to Centre- The method we will be using to level the driveway is: to remove the bricks, remove loose dirt, fill the hole with fill material until it is level with the bottom of the adjacent bricks, place the bricks back in their position and fill spaces around the bricks. We need to basically repave the entire area of the drive way as it has many holes and bumps. There is also two small wooden towers on either side of the driveway that act as an entrance. The two towers are basically falling over and we will fix them up and clean up the rubbish lying around them as well Clinic- We will be building enclosures for the animals. It’s called the clinic as it will be where all the new animals as well as the sick animals will stay. The enclosures will be made up of half walls, poles that we will plant and mesh running around to close off the enclosure with a gate in one corner. We will be mixing cement for laying bricks as well as for planting the poles with the assistance of an Uitsig member.
