Trash pickup

The Riverwalk in Hillsborough, NC is frequently used walkway that accumulates a large amount of litter. I wanted the Cubs to learn to keep an eye out and to pick up litter in their everyday lives.
We planned a route along some of the most frequently used portions of the trail. Several (biodegradable!) bags were handed for the kids to pick up little as we walked along the two mile stretch.
The Scouts learned that even when we do not personally leave the litter behind that we can be helpful members of citizen. They learned that not all litter is deliberate or careless, sometimes its an honest mistake and that we can help keep our land and waterways clean.
