Swimming above difficulties
O.I. Prvi Dobrinjski organized a project with the swimming club „Spid“ for people with disabilities and children. Swimming Club Spid is the first and only swimming club for people with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Swimming Club „Spid“ was founded in 2015 in Sarajevo.
The project between O.I. „Prvi Dobrinjski“ and the swimming club Spid is based on connecting scouts with sports, as well as connecting and introducing athletes/swimmers to the idea and activities of scouts. The main topic highlighted through the project is the topic of inclusion. The main goal was to expand and introduce the community to the topic of inclusion and to show by their own example how inclusion is lived.
Đeneta: We had many scout meetings, where we introduced our scouts to the topic of inclusion and the idea of the project. The topics of the meeting were how to organize gatherings with children and youth from the swimming club „Spid“, and how to promote our project. Every team meeting was very productive. We promoted ourselves through local media as well as Facebook pages and Instagram. We organized gatherings at the pool and in our premises in the school O.Š. Osman Nuri Hadžić. We devoted all our attention and all our skills to show our visitors from the swimming club „Spid“ all the scouting skills, and we also had the opportunity to visit the training sessions of the club and swim with them. Swimming Club „Spid“ and the Scout Group „Prvi Dobrinjski“ organized at the end of the project an inclusive swimming competition, in which all children had the right and opportunity to participate. The scouts were in the role of volunteers. At the entrance to the pool, the scouts had their own stand, where they also promoted the scout movement, which was very successful and attracted the attention of the visitors. That was the crown of our project, which we are very proud of.
Armin: I had the opportunity and honor to be one of the volunteers of the Scout Group „Prvi Dobrinjski“. I can say that I am very proud of myself and the whole team. It was an amazing experience. We had the opportunity to swim together with the children from the club. They showed us their swimming skills. We also had socializing and inspiring meetings at the pool, where we showed the scout knots and other scout skills to the children, as well as a presentation of our Scout Organization, our actions and competitions. Thanks to this project! We have all made new friendships and experiences, we have all grown in a collective sense and done something very important for the benefit of our community and our common future.
