Scout & Law: Kabete Rehabilitation Centre Outreach

Every young person deserves to feel valued, even while undergoing correction. As a Scout, service is a key value, and my motivation for getting involved in this project was mainly wanting to be part of a team that powerfully reminds the boys at Kabete Rehabilitation Centre that they are not forgotten. Through football and fun, we aimed to bring hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

I joined the Scout and Law team for the Kabete outreach with energy and heart. My day started in the kitchen, helping prepare meals for the boys. I took part in organizing teams, hyping up the matches, and cheering loudly from the sidelines. When it was time, I helped award trophies ; a moment full of smiles and pride. Through football, laughter, and shared stories, we connected with the boys beyond their circumstances. It was more than service; it was a reminder for them that they still belong.

By engaging in this project, I learnt that even simple activities like football, food, and cheering can bring joy and healing. The boys at Kabete reminded me that everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and included. I realized that correction is not rejection, and with the right support, change is possible. Working as a team showed me how collective effort makes service more impactful. Most importantly, I discovered that being present is sometimes the best gift we can give.
