Sabayang Paglilinis at Pagtatanim
There were 13 Scouts and 37 Scout leaders who united in order to conduct their “Sabayang Paglilinis and Tree Planting” program at Sta. Cruz Poblacion, San Luis, Pampanga on September 20, 2025.
This project aims to promote community cleanliness and environmental awareness. As it seeks to prevent the spread of different diseases such as dengue and Japanese encephalitis, it also promoted tree planting that could help in the ecological restoration of the area.
The program began with a brief orientation that was led by the Scout leaders and barangay officials. During the talk, they emphasized the significance of environmental hygiene and disease prevention that would really help the locals understand the benefit of the activity in their safety.
After the orientation, the cleaning of canals, streets, and open spaces started. They targeted the areas that are prone to stagnant water— the breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Additionally, there were also teams that were assigned to start the planting of various native trees in different areas of the said community.
In the process, the scouts also faced multiple challenges such as the lack of sufficient tools and protective equipment for the participants, and the unfavorable weather that hinder the activity. However, despite this, the Scouts successfully planted a total of 100 trees, and cleaned the entire barangay covering approximately 2.02 square kilometers.
“The Senior Scouts have once again proven their dedication to community service through their active participation in this Sabayang Paglilinis at Pagtatanim activity. These young leaders are setting an excellent example of environmental responsibility and civic duty.” -Scout Leader Maximo P. Manaloto, Institutional Head of San Luis NHS Scouting Unit
In this activity, we can really see that as long as we are united to serve, we can get through any challenges. May this kind of initiative continue to grow in every youth, and may this kind of willingness never fade in every young leader.
