REUSABLE SANITARY TOWELS AND MENSTRAUL HYGIENE EDUCATION BY SCOUTS

help us, to help them, help themselves better campaign Scouts from jinja district Uganda have had an opportunity to go through training on menstrual health Education and sanitation where they received the urge to train more girls in the community on issues concerning menstrual hygiene. this was prompted by many girls who are droping out school due to menstrual related cases like lack of sanitary towels, some are bullied by boys at school, community isolation, some reach this stage with no knowledge about it. so the campaign to let girls know who they are and what entails menstrual hygiene some families in the community the fathers can not afford to buy sanitary towels for their daughters during their period days. this has led to many girls dropping out of school. As Javon scouts we can not afford to buy these young girls sanitary towels every month to keep in school, so we train them to make Eco sanitary towels which are sustainable to be used for a year under good hygiene practices taught to them by scouts. Javon rover crew have taken on a community initiative to helping the community on menstrual health education and teaching communities on making eco sanitary pads as thier service to community to make the world a better place to live in. During one of the community visit, a father narrates to us how he has 5 daughters and can not afford to buy for them sanitary towels for each of them every month. he says its expensive and will take away the money he would use to pay the school fees, so on such days the girls miss school till when they are out of their periods. we always put resources together and when they accumulate , we buy teaching materials, and also cater for logistics during the out reach. number of outreach a year depend on the amount money saved by members. reach us. javonrovers@gmail.com
