Monthly Kayaking cleanup

We clean up the waters along the kallang area by picking up the rubbish along the shorelines. Through this i learn that Singapore's water are not as clean as they look, the waters must be kept clean everyday by the cleaners that work around that area. Rubbish found along those areas are normally beer bottles, platic bags, styrofoam and plastic bottles, this may be because that area is near to alot of shophouses along the bank causing people to just leave there rubbish liying around and when the wind blows the rubbish will fall into the water and therefore making the waters dirty. We clean up the area by picking up the rubidh we found in the waters and some in the grass patches on the water. We had to get out of our kayaks at some point in time as there rubbish also found on the banks that require us to walk further up so that we could reach it. We picked up alot of beer bottles there and i think that it is because foreign workiers like to stay there after finishing there work to have a drink or two and therefore just leaving their rubbuish there and when the wind blows everything on the banks will just fall into the water. Through this activity i learn that to keep Singapore's water clean alot of hardwork and manpower must be needed and although Singapore maybe named as a clean and green city not everyone is playing their part in throwing their own rubbish and keeping the place clean. It takes alot of time and effort to keep Singapore clean and green and to live up to it's name, CLEAN AND GREEN CITY.
