I took part in a service project to serve the local community with the objective of cleaning up a section of a public beach in Changi, Singapore. In conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup 2016 held on 17 Sep 2016, Colugo Scouts consisting of 24 cub scouts and scouts and 9 adult leaders participated in a beach cleanup at Changi Beach. The learning objective was to allow cubs, scouts and leaders to understand the impact of littering on our living environment. It was a good learning experience and we have good teamwork cleaning up the beach. The cubs and scouts enjoyed the experience and would like to see this activity as a yearly event. The volunteer service project that was carried out contributed to keeping a public beach clean and to imbue a sense of ownership to the cubs and scouts.
