Humanitarian Project in Palestine (Gaza)
The project was inspired by the urgent humanitarian needs created by the ongoing war in Gaza and the severe impact on Scouts, their families, and surrounding communities. The collapse of basic services, food insecurity, and displacement highlighted the critical role Scouts could play as community responders. This project was initiated to strengthen local capacities, support affected families, and enable Scouts to serve their communities during crisis conditions.
The project was implemented through a flexible emergency-response approach adapted to the rapidly changing conditions in Gaza. Scout leaders were trained and then applied a cascade model to transfer skills and awareness within their communities, while humanitarian assistance was delivered through local Scouting networks. Continuous coordination and field-based adaptation ensured activities remained effective despite security and access constraints.
The project highlighted the importance of flexibility and local leadership when operating in emergency and conflict settings. Empowering Scouts with practical skills and using a cascade approach proved effective in expanding reach under severe constraints. Strong community trust in Scouting enabled continued engagement and impact despite insecurity and limited resources.
