Venturer scouts from the Kennedy Region in Townsville gathered together to hike and clean a trail in the Hidden valley area of Paluma. Venturers hiked for 15 km using navigation skills, teaching new members how to navigate and gathering as much garbage as possible throughout the trail. The area is notorious for having abandoned mine shafts, one of which was found by the venturers. Garbage was then taken back to Townsville and disposed using proper recycling and organic disposal. This project provides scouts with the opportunity to learn hiking techniques while keeping hiking trails clean. Future "Hike and Clean" will be done within cities and popular camping sites to clean more and more hiking trails.
