Gulayan sa Paaralan: A Scout's Green Mission

To actively engage Boy scouts in promoting food sustainability and responsible citizenship through the establishment and maintenance of a school- based vegetable garden, while developing their skills in agriculture, teamwork community service.

A short lecture and hands- on demo were conducted on topics like composting, planting methods. 40 Scouts were grouped into teams, each team with designated plot and assigned vegetable like eggplant, okra, upo, talong, kamatis and sili led by 1 gulayan coordinator and 4 scout leaders. Scouts cleared and tilled 5 plots. 250 vegetable seedlings were planted during the activity. Monitoring is done every Friday after class. Each group was assigned to water, weed, monitor their garden plots weekly.

Through this project the Boy Scouts learned the value of disciplined, responsibility and teamwork in caring for the environment. They gained practical skillns in gardening.
