GROWING GREEN: TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE

This tree planting initiative aims to promote sustainability by engaging Scouts and Scout leaders in practical environmental action. Through hands-on reforestation and beautification activities, participants will develop ecological awareness, green skills, and a deeper sense of responsibility for their communities and the environment. The program also reinforces the Scouts’ role in promoting environmental stewardship and active citizenship.

A total of 50 Narra seedlings—a native and symbolically significant species in the Philippines—were strategically planted along the roadside to enhance the local ecosystem and contribute to long-term environmental benefits. The event was carried out with the active participation of the Field Scout Executive of Cluster V, representing the council’s strong support for climate resilience and green initiatives.

The implementation of the activity was relatively smooth; however, participants encountered dry soil conditions, which made digging and planting more labor-intensive than expected. This challenge was overcome through teamwork and proper hydration breaks. The limited number of seedlings, while appropriate for the scope, highlighted the need for future scaling of similar initiatives to reach broader environmental goals.
