Friday Clean-up [Earth Hour Edition]

First Male' Scout Group colleborated with the American Center Maldives to gather volunteers and collaborators from various NGOs and other partners to clean designated areas for 2-3 hours. The Clean-up was focused on different areas of Malé. Areas of focus were chosen via a heat map generated by our team. The end goal of this project is to minimize and eliminate the damage done to the environment and promote a more hygienic community. These areas were discussed with the Participants before each event starts: Waste management Significance of Environment in Maldives Awareness of Environmental Issues currently faced in the Maldives Promoting the vision of a more hygienic community by advocating the use of bins & against littering 577.35 kgs of trash was collected by 268 volunteers in just 2 hours!
