Food for Life

1st Mandleni is a Group led by Mr Richard Khubeka. They also established a food garden at school. Seed beds were made to grow vegetables which will be used by the school to help supplement the nutrition program. With the funding the Group bought tools, such as garden forks, watering cans as well as masks, gloves and seedlings. The project is helping the Group to help fight poverty and they are hoping to produce more vegetables for the learners and the community at large. The Scouts are now equipped with new knowledge and they have learned how to make trench beds and how to produce vegetables. Scouts take turns weeding the garden and removing the drooping leaves to make compost, while others volunteer to water and look after the garden during weekends and school holidays.
