Food gardens for Burges Dorp
At Burges Dorp village in Jullesburg District Limpopo, the rate of unemployment and poverty is very high. Many families are poor they are not working and if they are thought how to survive, they can make food gardens for healthy nutritious food and to generate income they can sell the vegetables to make profit. It is in this light that a Group led by a Scouter Catherine Mushana conducted training for Julisberg community on how to make food gardens. Through this project the Group helped about 125 families, seeds were distributed and materials in a form of booklets were shared amongst the Group to help spread the knowledge. The community was trained on how to make food gardens using activities and topics on how to make tea manure, compost heap, how to make different size gardens, preparing soil and planting seeds. Closer to the time of harvest the Group’s team work started showing off because their gardens turned green and attractive.
