Erie Gardens Nursery - 1st West Lorne

All sections met for a presentation on Monarch butterflies, milkweed seed planting, and a special craft/snack. One of our Venturer youth (also a Beaver SIT) presented a power point program on the life cycle of the endangered Monarch. This included food, migration, why it is endangered and what we can do to help. He also presented this program at our church during the children's time of a service. The scouting youth made caterpillars out of clothes pins and pom poms, then later in the program changed them to butterflies by adding wings of baggies filled with colourful cereal. The youth also planted milkweed seeds, which they took home to plant after they germinated.
