ECO-WARRIORS IN ACTION
In celebration of World Environment Day 2025, this cleanup drive highlights the leadership and environmental commitment of Eagle Scouts across ZANDIDAP Council. By leading ecological efforts, Eagle Scouts will inspire their peers, foster collaboration among Scouting units, and raise awareness about plastic pollution in tourist and natural sites. The initiative also supports the preservation of valued community spaces like Little Siargao through visible, impactful action.
The initiative began with a short orientation on environmental safety, waste handling, and the significance of World Environment Day. With diligence and enthusiasm, the Scouts collected and segregated solid waste, most of which consisted of plastic bottles, food wrappers, and fishing debris. In just 2.5 hours, the team collected an impressive 123 kilograms of plastic waste.
Participants encountered scattered and embedded debris, some of which were difficult to retrieve due to muddy or submerged terrain. The hot weather also required the Scouts to take regular hydration breaks. Nevertheless, the energy and teamwork of the Scouts enabled them to complete their task with efficiency and a positive spirit.
