
Eco-Brew: Coffee, Conservation, and Community
Driven by the need to promote responsible consumption and environmental sustainability among young people. By partnering with the Philippine Coffee Board, Inc., we aimed to educate Scouts on the value of sustainable coffee farming—connecting everyday habits like coffee drinking to larger issues of food security, eco-friendly practices, and community development. We believe empowering youth with this knowledge inspires long-term action and leadership in protecting both people and the planet.
In partnership with the Philippine Coffee Board, Inc., Scouts were guided through practical stations that taught soil preparation, coffee planting techniques, and the broader environmental and economic benefits of responsible coffee production. This approach helped participants understand the full impact of consumption habits while encouraging them to take active roles in promoting sustainability in their communities.
The activity taught the Scouts and Scout Leaders that responsible consumption starts with awareness and hands-on understanding of how products—like coffee—are grown and produced. Through practical experience and educational sessions, Scouts learned how sustainable farming conserves natural resources and supports local communities. Most importantly, they realized that everyday choices can drive positive environmental and economic change.
