1st Blaauwberg Cubs Turn Trash into Toys

There are so many single used plastics and other trash filling up our oceans and landfills. The 1st Blaauwberg cubs wanted to show that they can make use of their single use trash into something wonderful: an educational toy. These toys were given to the children of Home of Hope: a center where abandoned children with disabilities are taken in and taken care of
1st Blaauwberg Cubs collected and used materials to make educational toys for Home of Hope in Cape Town, South Africa. They used egg boxes to make dice and mathematical “bump” games. They also made playdough kits and added fun items in the kit such as buttons, small toys and cookie cutters. In addition, the cubs e also collected pre-loved toys, books and puzzles that were in a good condition to donate.
The 1st Blaauwberg Cubs learnt that trash can be made into something reusable and beautiful. They also learnt to reduce their consumption of single use trash. The cubs also learnt about the amazing work that Home of Hope of doing for local children and also learnt about compassion towards the children.
