Indonesia: Innovation Through Life Leaders Project
From May 22 to 24, 2025, Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia organized the National Training of Trainers for Life Leaders in Cibubur, Jakarta. Supported by the World Organization of the Scout Movement and Accentuire, this training is crucial for the successful implementation of the Impact Innovators Challenge, which is part of the Life Leaders project in Indonesia. The goal of the project is to equip young people with the skills to innovate and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through a design thinking process.
The training was attended by 28 participants from 13 provinces across Indonesia. The attendees primarily consisted of adult leaders and key figures from provincial scout headquarters, who will play a central role in implementing the Impact Innovators Challenge. After the training, each participant is required to develop an action plan and may propose a funding request to the National Headquarters to support their pilot projects.
The training began with an opening address and keynote speech by the International Commissioner, who emphasized the importance of adaptability for scout leaders and organizations in a rapidly changing world. He stressed the need for scouts to actively find solutions for their communities and innovate to address various challenges.
Throughout the training, participants engaged in sessions that focused on understanding and practicing design thinking. These sessions included knowledge transfer through andragogical dialogue, discussions, role play, and various practical activities led by the Life Leaders Team, who had previously been trained in regional workshops. Participants were organized into groups to identify practical problems, generate ideas, formulate solutions, and plan actions, while also learning about tools for monitoring and evaluation.
Moving forward after the training, all participants will join the Life Leaders team to share and implement their projects at the local level.
