A very special walk

A very special walk reflection For the event that day, I was assigned to an interesting booth along with my senior. It was a booth where people throw a ball at a target to dunk the person sitting on the seat. My role was to reset the machine so that it could be used again when the next person came for their turn. Initially, I did not really think that I could take away anything from this role and felt as though the only thing I had to gain out of the activity was the VIA hours and attendance. However, I was wrong. I began to notice the people in the seat. Some of the people I saw that were willing to seat on the seat to get dunked were teachers, others were highly respected and there was even someone in a suit. However, all of them were willing to go through great discomfort just to raise a little bit of money and were determined to help those in need. One teacher was so scared of the water but still chose to sit on the seat to get dunked by his student to help raise funds for the cause. This taught me that no matter who we are or in what position we are in, we must be able humble ourselves and must be willing to step out of the comfort zone to help others. On top of this, the people who had finished helping out at the booth looked much happier after seeing that they had been able to raise money, which taught me that helping others does not necessarily mean you have nothing to gain as it was clear to me that helping others has benefits for oneself too.
