Small Bowls, Big Goals

Our primary motivation stems from witnessing how rising global temperatures leave urban wildlife, especially birds, struggling to find clean drinking water. Earth Day highlighted that true environmental action begins locally with simple, immediate steps. This project is driven by a deep sense of empathy for vulnerable urban wildlife and a personal commitment to take immediate, hands-on action to protect them.

We gathered at our college campus to launch our project and mapped out various high-traffic bird zones. We strategically placed new water bowls across different locations and systematically cleaned and refilled existing dirty ones. Throughout this process, our actions caught the attention of the campus community, allowing us to actively engage and motivate both students and teachers to join our cause and maintain the water bowls.

Through this project, we learned that small, collective actions can make a massive difference in protecting local wildlife. We realized how desperately urban birds, squirrels, and other small creatures need clean water during high temperatures, making us more empathetic toward our local ecosystem. Working as a team also taught us how to effectively organize community drives and motivate our peers and teachers to take responsibility for our environment.
