Noxolo Xaula PS: Building Confidence With Literacy

The adventure aimed to help learners gain self-confidence in reading aloud and spark interest in library use. Many learners had little previous exposure to reading for meaning, so the project sought to make literacy engaging and enjoyable.
Learners participated in reading stories, writing exercises, dictionary use, and exploring language concepts like verbs, nouns, and adverbs. Yeboneers guided learners in comprehension and creative expression, while fostering engagement and participation.
The project highlighted the importance of access to quality reading materials and the power of structured support. Learners improved vocabulary, reading comprehension, and dictionary skills. Yeboneers learned strategies for keeping large groups engaged and creating an interactive literacy environment.
