Interfaith Peace Scouts
Living with Muslim and Buddhist roommates during my university studies in Russia, I experienced firsthand that daily coexistence breaks down prejudice naturally. This simple but powerful reality inspired me to transform it into a structured scout project. My goal was to create safe spaces where young people from different faiths could meet, share, and build peace together – exactly as I had learned in scouting.
I organized in‑person interfaith dialogues in Russian universities (Orel, Moscow) and online sessions connecting youth from Russia, Congo, and DRC. Activities included cultural event stands, debate nights, library circles, a Zoom workshop, and a social media campaign with short videos. Each gathering followed a scout‑inspired method: discovery, exchange, and collective commitment to peace.
I learned that sincere, structured dialogue breaks down prejudice faster than assumptions. The scout method-small groups, symbolic engagement, action-based learning-works perfectly for interfaith peacebuilding. Flexibility (adapting formats, locations, languages) is key. Even one young person can start a ripple effect: from roommates to a 150‑person network.
