Huguenot PS reading with heart
The Scouting-in-Schools project aimed to foster a love for reading and improve literacy skills through exploration of diverse texts and genres. Learners developed creativity, empathy, and critical thinking while celebrating cultural understanding and personal growth.
Learners engaged with stories, wrote and shared short stories, explored dictionaries, and practiced research. Scouts guided learners, provided support, and encouraged active participation despite challenges like scheduling and limited reading time.
Scouts realized that clear objectives and diverse materials support learner engagement. Time management and inclusivity were important challenges, but the experience reinforced the value of storytelling in developing literacy, critical thinking, and empathy.
