Donations of Love

In our Montana Vista community, a lot of the residents are from very low incomes and most come from single income households. We felt if we could provide an opportunity to get some food, clothing, baby items, and home items, this would help families with needs and to uplift the community more.
Our scouts posted fliers asking neighbors to donate items for their collection. The following week, scouts went door to door explaining their project and why they were collecting. Scouts then got together and sorted out the donations collected into categories. On the day of the event, scouts helped the community members to select items and carry items out to their vehicles.
Scouts learned that although others may not be in the same situation as the community they were targeting, others were in similar situations and could not help with their donation collection. They also learned that the community was very grateful of understanding their situation and yet conducting an event that allowed them to retain their dignity.
