VEGETABLE WEEDING ACTIVITY
On Friday, 19 December 2025, an agricultural learning activity was carried out at G.S. Kinigi TSS, located in Kinigi Sector of Musanze District, under the Food for Life project supported by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). The activity focused on weeding cabbage crops and cleaning the school garden, with the aim of promoting practical agricultural skills and good nutrition among students.
Organized by Claude Cyiza, the activity brought together five students who actively participated in hands-on farming work. Together, they removed weeds growing among the vegetables, cleaned and organized the garden rows, and inspected the crops to remove pests that could affect productivity. Through this practical experience, the students learned the importance of proper crop care and how agriculture contributes to a balanced and healthy diet.
By the end of the activity, the garden was clean and well maintained, and the cabbage crops were in good condition, with improved chances of healthy growth and better yields. More importantly, the students gained valuable practical knowledge that strengthens food self-sufficiency and supports the fight against malnutrition.
This activity demonstrates how the Food for Life project continues to empower young people with life skills, while encouraging sustainable agriculture and nutrition awareness within school communities.
