TGSA Youth Programme Review and Scouts for SDGs

The Gambia Scout Association (TGSA) has successfully concluded a comprehensive review of its Youth Programme, marking a significant milestone in strengthening youth development and aligning Scouting in The Gambia with global sustainable development priorities. The review process assessed the relevance, quality, and impact of the existing Youth Programme, with a strong focus on ensuring it remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of young people. It also examined how the programme can better equip Scouts with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to contribute meaningfully to their communities and national development. A key outcome of the review is the formal integration of the Scouts for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiatives into the TGSA National Scout Organization (NSO) Youth Programme. This integration ensures that Scouting activities across all age sections are intentionally linked to the SDGs, promoting active citizenship, community service, environmental stewardship, health and well-being, gender equality, and peacebuilding. Through this integration, Scouts will engage in more structured, impactful, and measurable actions that contribute to national and global development agendas, while staying true to the Scout Method and values. The updated Youth Programme emphasizes learning by doing, youth-led action, and partnerships that enhance the scale and sustainability of community impact. The successful review reflects TGSA’s commitment to continuous improvement, youth involvement in decision-making, and innovation in Scouting education. It also reinforces the Association’s role as a key youth development actor supporting The Gambia’s development priorities and the global vision of World Scouting. TGSA extends appreciation to all youth representatives, adult volunteers, partners, and stakeholders who contributed to the review process. The Association looks forward to rolling out the updated Youth Programme and supporting Scouts across the country to take meaningful action for the SDGs.
