Compétences vertes pour tous (ECO-HUBS)

Training in green skills and eco-citizenship. Fighting for environmental protection is good, indeed very good, but first, one must equip oneself with the skills to effectively carry out the fight. Eco-hubs is a community-based educational and ecological space designed to introduce young people to environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, ecological citizenship, and community engagement. It is an eco-citizenship education project initiated by the Ivorian Federation of Scouting (FIS). From January 31st to February 1st, 2026, I had the honor of participating in the 5th training cohort of the Eco-hubs project. During this training, we learned about environmental topics such as: Eco-citizenship; Environmental challenges; Circular use; Eco-friendly actions and best practices in daily life; Green projects and eco-citizen initiatives; Go Solar Scouts program; Ecological transition; Film screening on the environment. These enriching themes led us to participate in workshops to brainstorm solutions we could implement to address environmental challenges in our various communities. Following this training, a team was formed to establish a hub. But what is a hub? A hub is a place for training, experimentation, and exchange; it's a challenge, an ecological project that must be undertaken. Thus, a green library hub was established at Yvac Anyama Middle School to perpetuate this knowledge of environmental protection for future generations. Collected books on the environment were donated to the school, and an Eco-hub club was also established within the school. The Eco-hubs project is part of the effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the international project SCOUTS FOR SDGs, via the EARTH TRIBE initiative. Having successfully completed the Eco-hubs training and certification program, I am now an Eco-hubs Ambassador. But beyond this distinction as an environmental ambassador, I am now a passionate advocate for environmental protection.
