Construction of website for a Scout Section was really an interesting project. The following post recites personal experience of this effort.

As adult volunteer of Soma Hellinon Proskopon – Scouts of Greece, I had undertaken from time to time various duties. In September 2019, Scout District Leader of Thessaloniki asked me to help with the ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) of Scout District. Such a proposal was quite tempting for two main reasons. Personally, it was something new for me, since my profession is completely different, meaning that computers and internet are tools to my legal science and not field of science. On the other hand, by accepting the offer I had to complete a stagnant for almost a decade project for Scouts of Thessaloniki, the construction of website.

In practice, its implementation proved to be much easier, as it was carried out by trainees participated in a step-by-step WordPress learning course. At that time, an independent educational computer center in Thessaloniki, was organizing WordPress courses. Using the “learning by doing” theory, construction of website was simply a project in order trainees practically learned how to create WordPress website, install themes and plugins. The result was that in a short time (less than a month) the Scouts of Thessaloniki gained a modern website (www.scoutsofthessaloniki.eu) with many possibilities and addons, such as newsletter module, calendar for activities and events, donation platform, and eshop. Personally, Ι also gained an additional knowledge as I participated in the above WordPress learning course.
