Turning Pages, Changing Lives

My motivation came from wanting to live out our Scout values, helping others and giving back to the community. I saw the Book Drive as a way for Scouts, Cubs, Meerkats and the community to work together on something meaningful that encourages learning and kindness. It was about turning a simple idea into something that could truly make a difference.

The Book Drive Project started with the goal of collecting books to share the joy of reading with others. We advertised it across our Scout, Cub and Meerkat WhatsApp groups, encouraging everyone to get involved. A few social media posts helped spread the word even further, inviting families, friends, and schools to contribute. Two local schools, Arcadia and Selborne Primary joined in, adding to the amazing response from our scouts, cubs and Meerkats.

The most important thing the I learned was, that even a small idea can make a big impact. Seeing the gratitude from Fort Grey Public School reminded me that helping others doesn’t need to be complicated — it just needs heart and effort.
