SDG Village of 10th National Jamboree - Sri Lanka
The Project aimed to facilitate jamboree participants aware about SDGs and Scouts for SDGs Initiatives during the 10th National Jamboree of Sri Lanka. We conducted a training session for the volunteer team comprised of 100 people with the help of 2 WOSM Consultants for Better World Framework. It was one full day training.
During next 3 days we conducted six 3 hours sessions (morning and evening) for the Jamboree participants who are youth members on all aspects of Scouts for SDG initiatives.
United Nations partner agencies such as UNICEF, UNV, UNDP, UNFPA collaborated with Sri Lanka Scout Association. More than 10,000 Youth from Sri Lanka and overseas got the exposure about the SDGs and Scouts for SDGs initiatives and around 5000 won the Scouts for SDGs award for the Jamboree.
Mr. Madhusudan Avala from India and Dr. Alley from Thailand served as the WOSm Consultants. Dr. Asanka Eriyawa under the patronage of Chief Commissioner of SLSA Mr. Janaprith Fernando served as the Organising Commissioner. Saliya Dahanayake and Team ran the operation.
Best Practices: online trainings and 2 days comprehensive training were consulted to train 100 local and overseas volunteers was a key success. Lessons Learned: Proper planning, Crowd control and time management are necessary to run a smooth operation during the implementation.
